CNN Host Brian Stelter admits he let lies David Hogg told on his show to pass without comment, although did correct Hogg when he claimed Dana Loesch is the CEO of the National Rifle Association.
She is the communications director. But this shows you how little Hogg really know and how little he has studied the topic.
This comes just a week after Ben Shapiro called out Stelter and CNN for lying. Stelter made his confession on HLN’s “S.E. Cupp Unfiltered,”.
Stelter said:
“There were a few times I wanted to jump in and say, ‘Let’s correct that fact.’ And at one of the times I did and other times I did not. There’s always that balance, how many times you’re going to interrupt.”
Excuse me, but shouldn’t you interrupt every time he lies? I guess calling it lying may not be correct. Since he is clueless on the subject, he could have just been wrong a lot of times.
You would think that CNN would have picked someone better versed on the subject as the face of gun confiscation. But then again it would be tough to find someone on their side who is knowledgeable on any subject.
Stelter explained that he only corrected Hogg when the student claimed that Dana Loesch is the CEO of the National Rifle Association. Stelter did not mention which falsehoods he let slide.
The CNN host, however, was quick to emphasize his empathy with the student-led movement.
“I think we have to recognize where David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez are coming from. There has been an increase in the lethality of mass shootings in recent years in this country,” Stelter said.
“And so I can see where these students are coming from saying, ‘This is getting worse.’”
Shapiro had appeared on Stelter’s show and he complained about the media coverage of the students from Parkland who have unlimited access to the press who allow them to make false or at least inaccurate statements.
He correctly added that when they do, many people see it as dishonesty of the press and they lose credibility from it.
He told Stelter that it’s disturbing when the press claims there is nothing political about their coverage when in fact, that’s all it is.
