A large-scale law enforcement sweep at a Tempe bar ended with 249 arrests, marking one of the most significant underage-drinking crackdowns in the state this year. The operation took place at Tempe Tavern, a venue already under scrutiny following a similar enforcement action earlier in the year that resulted in more than 160 arrests.
Authorities said the latest sweep uncovered widespread use of fake IDs and instances of individuals providing false information to officers. Out of the 249 people detained, 246 were cited and released at the scene, while several others were booked into jail pending further review.
Investigators confirmed that the bar now faces mounting administrative consequences. State liquor regulators are evaluating whether Tempe Tavern’s liquor license should be suspended or revoked due to repeated violations and ongoing concerns about its oversight.
Officials described the operation as part of a broader effort to curb underage drinking in the area, emphasizing that the volume of arrests reflects a persistent and serious problem within the community.
