Angry during an interview with “60 Minutes,” MTG said of Democrats, “They support grooming children.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, once again stunned “60 Minutes” presenter Lesley Stahl on Sunday by labeling Democrats the “party of pedophiles.” Stahl froze in his tracks uncomfortably at this.
Stahl said that the Democrats are a party of bullies, which was something Greene often said about them while she was in government.
“I would say that is the case,” Greene told Stahl, “because they support grooming children.”
Why would you say that? Stahl pressed, “They’re not pedophiles.”
Attempts are being made in Tennessee to make it unlawful to host drag performances for minors on public property or in close proximity to schools. Democratic supporters of these gatherings have been dubbed “groomers” by some Republican pundits because they disagree with the prohibition.
When it comes to sexualizing minors and allowing them to undergo transgender surgery, Greene claims that even Vice President Joe Biden is on board. Children are sexualized by predators.
Stahl appeared taken aback by the far-right Republican’s comments. For a second, she acted as if her eyes were rolling, and then she said, “Wow.”
Republicans like Greene have claimed, without evidence, that prominent Democrats mistreat children because of their views on transgenderism and fashion shows.
Greene is known as one of the GOP’s most outspoken members. His frequent disagreements with fellow Republicans and Democrats earned him the moniker “MTG” from both camps. She explained in the interview that she decided to run for office after seeing the failure of Republicans such as then-House Speaker Paul Ryan and current Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. (R-Kentucky).
Stahl pressed Greene to defend her views without resorting to name-calling or other insults.
Well, I would ask the same question of the other side, since all they’ve done since I’ve been here is call me names and abuse me constantly,” Greene replied to Lesley’s inquiry.
Stahl was criticized for providing Greene a platform to speak before the interview even broadcast on “60 Minutes.” Former president Donald Trump has a staunch ally in Greene. Since she became close to Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., she has risen to prominence in the current Congress.
After Greene was relieved of her committee responsibilities due to her past of supporting far-right conspiracy theories, the newsmagazine came under fire from MSNBC’s Elie Mystal and NBC News’ Mehdi Hasan and Ben Collins. In 2021, after she had been elected, this occurred. She has joined the Homeland Security Committee since the Republicans regained power.
Mystal referred to Greene as “Marjorie Three Names” and “Unfrozen Caveman Congresswoman” in a text message she sent on Friday.
Her “nicknames” include “Unfrozen Caveman Congresswoman” and “Marjorie Three Names,” but he noted that calling her by her letters, “MTG,” as if it were a cute moniker her friends gave her, demonstrates that you’re here to clean up her image and are to blame.
When it came to the debt limit, Greene’s previous comments on the Parkland massacre, and funding a military defense of Ukraine against Russia, Stahl and Greene had contrasting opinions.
