Over the years there has been much discussion over the Second Amendment and whether it is really necessary in today’s world. Liberals have tried everything to take guns away from law-abiding citizens. All while doing absolutely nothing to curb gun use by criminals.
They even tried gun free zones. That little sign informing criminals and nutcases to a potentially open invitation. Crime Prevention Research Center’s John Lott has produced a study showing most mass killings take place in gun free zones. 97.8% of them as a matter of fact. Take James Holmes, the Aurora movie theater shooter. There are 24 theaters close to where he lived. Only one does not allow guns. Which one do you think he hit? You got it.
Lott uses the FBI definition of “mass public shootings” as an incident in which four or more people are killed (excluding the shooter) by gunfire in a non-gang or non-drug related capacity. Lott also defines a “gun-free zone” as areas where the average citizen can’t typically carry guns.
97.8 percent is a startling figure. Another way to look at it is that only 2.2 percent of mass shootings happen where people can carry firearms.
Yes, 97.8 is likely somewhat inflated due in no small part to the spate of school shootings that occur in America. Schools are almost always weapon-free zones.
But the fact remains that the overwhelming majority of mass shootings happen in gun-free zones.
So let’s face facts. Mass shooters don’t want to be shot. Even the suicidal ones because that would limit the number of people they can kill. Two recent school shootings were stopped thanks to armed personnel on the scene. For instance, in Maryland.
This is pretty staggering when you consider the lengths that the hard-left has went to, trying to convince the American people that they are right in this instance… but the numbers don’t support their claims
