CBS News returned to Twitter on Sunday, just two days after announcing it would suspend its activity there “out of an excess of caution” in light of the dramatic changes implemented by the social media corporation’s new owner, Elon Musk.
According to a tweet posted by the network’s communications team early on Sunday, CBS News and Stations have returned to Twitter after taking the weekend off to examine the security problem.
CBS News correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti said on Friday that the network will no longer Livestream news updates on Twitter owing to “uncertainty” regarding the platform’s usefulness in light of the hundreds of employees who have been dismissed or quit rather than continue working under Musk.
Ideas and Information from Numerous Different Places It was feared by the media conglomerate that Twitter’s core functionality would be compromised and that the platform would be open to hackers.
Glenn Greenwald, a journalist, poked fun at the network for its hasty about-face.
His exclamation was followed by CBS News’s assurance that Twitter was secure again. They continue to “evaluate security risks” and “watch the situation.” If there are more instances of dissenting ideas, or journalists are forced to listen to speakers they find offensive, the media may pull back again.
Since acquiring the company a month ago, Musk has laid off more than half of the workers, including many high-ranking executives.
Employees left in droves last week after Musk demanded they accept “callous” new policies or risk losing their jobs.
After hearing statements from former employees, traditional media outlets, and leftist politicians about how Musk will transform the network, some sponsors cut their funding on Twitter.
Musk claims the current number of users is at an “all-time high.”
In January 2021, after a noisy mob stormed the U.S. Capitol, Twitter’s old guard blocked Trump’s account; Musk reopened it over the weekend, much to the chagrin of the left and anti-Trumpers.
Musk brought Trump back on Twitter after 15 million people responded to a poll asking if the former president should use the platform again.
Musk tweeted that “the people have spoken.” Trump will be back in office if current trends continue.
This Latin phrase translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
