Former “View” host Whoopi Goldberg was just let go by ABC for making unsubstantiated claims about the Holocaust and prejudice.
The 67-year-old actress, who has established a second career as a politics and culture expert on “The View,” spoke to The Times of London about why she does not believe Jews are a unique species and why Hitler’s claim that he slaughtered them to create a “master race” is not plausible. For the second time in less than a year, Goldberg has made the identical allegations that led to his suspension and subsequent apologies.
Keep in mind the first people they started killing. “In an appeal to the press, Goldberg said. Using brute force was the only justification for these murders, not racial hatred. They were killing those they deemed mentally sick. This is the conclusion they’ve arrived at.
To underscore her position that the Semitic people are not a race, she chose a terrible metaphor to demonstrate how her statements were misread.
To say that Goldberg’s remark that “You still couldn’t tell a Jew on the street” is meaningless is an understatement. It would be appreciated if there was some way to track me down. Our quest might have been much more fruitless if we hadn’t done it. That is the exact point I was making.
She quipped, “You’d think I had a big, disgusting poo on the table if I hadn’t been wearing pants.”
The Holocaust was an instance of “white-on-white violence,” not racial, as Goldberg said in February.
ABC President Kim Godwin announced Whoopi Goldberg’s two-week suspension for “misguided and disrespectful statements” on February 1. As of right now, Disney owns ABC. Whoopi has expressed regret, but I’ve requested that she consider the full gravity of her comments. ABC News is united in supporting our Jewish colleagues, friends, and neighbors.
There has been no response from the network to Goldberg’s most recent statements.
Goldberg interviewed to promote the new Emmett Till: Freedom Fighter film, which she co-produced. The transgender community joined the ranks of those upset with Goldberg, joining the Jews, historians, and maybe even her employment. When confronted about her prior comment that “boys don’t have eggs,” which transgender activists viewed as sexist against biological women who identify as males, Goldberg refused to back down.
Even if they did have eggs, she doubted that they were viable. If you wish to fertilize those eggs successfully, you’ll need to make some adjustments. But I’m concerned since I’ve learned that trans males still have prostates.
This year’s Holocaust controversy was sparked after Goldberg, and her co-hosts backed a Tennessee school district’s decision to ban the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic book “Maus.”
Let’s be straight out here,” she said, “the Holocaust has nothing to do with race.” “This has nothing to do with race. Racism has no place in our society. That racial distinction is irrelevant. This is a story of how cruel human beings can be to one another. That’s crucial for obvious reasons.
Goldberg placed herself in a historically untenable position, and her co-hosts did nothing to intervene.
She emphasized that they’re both white. You’re missing the point. Racial tensions may quickly boil over in any given setting. To put it simply, it’s how individuals interact with one another.
The Holocaust, she said in an afterthought of regret, “was about the Nazi’s intentional annihilation of the Jewish people, who they deemed to be an inferior race.” A short time later, she was disconnected from the web. I apologize, but you are mistaken. However, after the same day, during an interview on Stephen Colbert’s liberal late-night TV show, she completely disavowed the apology.
Goldberg insisted that his behavior was not racist to clear his name. What happened was awful. It doesn’t matter at all what color someone’s skin is. Who among them was Jewish was a mystery. The amount of study required to find this is impressive. There was nowhere for them to go.
She elaborated, “If I’m with a Jewish buddy and the Ku Klux Klan comes down the street, I’ll flee, but if my friend stays behind, the Klan will probably pass them by. Sadly, you do not have any light to guide you.
