When asked whether the Hunter Biden and Burisma files held by the National Archives will be released to the public under the Freedom of Information Act, the White House has remained silent.
As reported by the Daily Caller, a legal firm comprised of former Trump administration staffers has claimed that President Biden’s son Hunter’s ties to the Ukrainian energy business Burisma might be shown through the concealment of pertinent information.
Several groups, including the non-profit America First Legal Foundation, have filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for documents containing the word “Burisma.” The National Archives and Records Administration plans to make public 300 emails that are relevant to the investigation (NARA). But the White House might withhold them under the pretext of presidential privilege.
The White House has been silent on the topic, so it is unclear if President Biden intends to follow through. In a Saturday tweet, Trump adviser, speechwriter, and AFL-CIO leader Stephen Miller expressed concern that legal action may be taken if such data were gathered.
The anti-corruption organization American First Legal has launched a federal lawsuit to force the National Archive to reveal these records. Politicians undermine national strength and public trust when they prioritize their agendas over that of the people. For his part, Miller claims he “warned Fox News Digital” about the inappropriate remarks.
There will be obstacles on our path, but we can overcome them. To put it another way, we want this paper to be available to everyone. Our pure light will cast out any gloom. If President Biden disobeys the law and attempts to thwart our request, we will be all the more determined to learn what is happening behind his back. One of our legal representatives is available to help you, it reads.
On August 10, the Alliance for Justice requested an inspection of government records. In particular, they want to see any emails sent or received between President Joe Biden’s office and his son Hunter or his brother James during the Obama administration, as well as any official government travel records documenting the Biden family’s visits to the Obama White House.
A FOIA request for 69 pictures and 282 email exchanges containing the phrase “Burisma” was approved on November 30, and the National Archives and Records Administration informed the Biden administration. Let’s assume the president thinks releasing the emails is a good idea. According to the source, in such a situation, 75 other businesses will be partially blacked out in addition to the limited redactions done to the 22 talks containing sensitive material.
Draft documents that are “part of the deliberative or policy-making process” are protected from disclosure under the Freedom of Material Act, as are information that might violate the privacy of individuals or reveal trade secrets. NARA declined to provide specifics about the safeguards afforded to the 22 removed texts.
At the time of Hunter Biden’s 2014 appointment to the board of Burisma, the American Federation of Labor and other groups filed Freedom of Information Act petitions. Due to his incompetence in the energy industry, he was paid $83,333 a month.
The Republican Party has referred to Hunter Biden’s ties to Burisma as proof that Joe Biden used his position as president to advance the family’s global commercial interests. The president has publicly denied involvement in his son’s business several times. With the release of the emails, we can determine whether or not the president was telling the truth about Hunter Biden’s links to Burisma.
No response was given to Fox News’s inquiry about whether President Biden intended to invoke executive privilege to prevent the records from being made public.
