After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Hillary Clinton contrasted Afghanistan under Taliban authority to the United States.
Clinton remarked, “As an advanced economy as we are, by this metric, we, sadly, are appropriately classified among them.” “It’s alarming to believe that any way we’re tied to destitute Afghanistan and Sudan,” she said.
Clinton added that the United States isn’t the only place where women’s health and bodily autonomy are threatened; nations like Iran and Ukraine are also seeing this trend.
Clinton stated that limiting access to abortions is anti-democratic, citing global instances of dictatorship and democracy.
Christiane Amanpour was told by both ladies that they believe the United States is using “draconian” means to fight the global rise of women’s rights.
Clinton said, “And what we’ve seen, especially after the Dobbs decision across our nation, is that when people — including men and women, but led by women — have the option to vote on these harsh abortion restrictions, they do not accept them.”
Except in cases of rape or when a woman’s life is in jeopardy, the Islamic regimes of Afghanistan and Sudan outlaw abortions.
Some states in the United States have passed laws making abortion illegal at any point during pregnancy in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
