Santos claims that no one discovered his dishonesty during his failed 2020 presidential campaign.
Disgraced Rep. George Santos (R-NY) admitted in an interview that he is a bad liar but thought he could get away with it because no one had caught him lying during his failed 2020 congressional campaign.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, which was published on Monday, Santos revealed the information. In the interview, Santos describes himself as a “bad liar,” but he defends his lies by saying he said them so that he could get the support of the local political system.
He explained, “It wasn’t about fooling anybody.” It was all about winning over the local chapter of the party, as they put it.
Morgan then asked whether Santos agreed that he had been a “bad liar,” before listing several lies that Santos has perpetuated about himself.
“Sure. I’ve lied horribly about those topics, but what I wanted the American people to know was that I was human and that I’d made errors “A reply came from Santos.
Santos continued by explaining why he believed a sitting congressman could get away with such apparent falsehoods.
Morgan: “I’m simply stunned, not necessarily that a politician would lie, but that you would assume no one would find out” while discussing a candidate who “blatantly lied about even your academic past” when running for Congress of the United States.

Despite having admitted to lying about his education and job experience during his 2022 campaign, Santos has continually refused to quit his post. The lawmaker has stated that he or she will not serve on any committees but is considering another bid for office in 2024.
The Nassau County GOP, Santos’ home county Republican organization, demanded his resignation last month.
Nassau County Republican Chairman Joe Cairo stated, “George Santos’s campaign last year was a campaign of fraud, falsehoods, and fabrication.” “He does not belong on the Republican committee for Nassau County and he certainly shouldn’t hold any public office. Nobody here at GOP headquarters wants him around.”
The New York Times did not reveal that Santos had lied on his CV until after he had already been elected. The Democrat Robert Zimmerman was defeated by Santos, 54% to 46%.
