One Angry Travelor Resuses To Swap Air Plane Seats With Mom

A fellow traveler vented her frustration about a mother who “had the nerve” to ask to swap seats so she could be closer to her kid.

Passenger’s response to being requested to swap seats went viral after being posted to Reddit: “It’s not my fault they didn’t book together.”

The traveler, who shall remain nameless, was a Japanese national visiting the United States. The adult occupied the aisle spot, while the kid sat in the window.

The mother of the kid was seated directly behind them in the center of the row.

She wanted to sit next to her daughter by the window, and the user noted, “she asked me, and only me, to switch with her so she could have my window seat.” Never in a million years!

A furious passenger posted online, “What’s worse is that we were surrounded by other people from her tour group, so she could have asked for a three-way trade instead. Or the travel agent.”

The audacity to ask me and then assume I won’t offer a worse deal.

In the remarks, readers were split on whether or not the OP made the best decision.

One respondent who identified themselves as a “parent of a toddler” was taken aback by the poster’s preference to remain put rather than flee from what they called “someone else’s unaccompanied toddler.”

Someone commented, labeling the initial Redditor “dumb” for being “infuriated” about “a mom trying to watch their own kid,” and adding, “Sure, someone else could move, but either way, someone has to move or sit next to a flying toddler.”

Another person questioned, “Why did you want to sit next to the little girl of a stranger?”

Another passenger stated, “My general rule is: 1). Will only switch one aisle for another. (my preference). 2). Will never give up an aisle or window seat for a middle three). Will never change if I have to pay more.”

One respondent said, “I just stopped taking them at all.” Unless it’s for a more desirable alternative.

They complained, “It seems to be getting worse on planes, and even more so, lately, with people acting like they deserve something.” Don’t bother talking to me again; I don’t know you and I don’t have any special feelings about you beyond what a typical individual would feel.

The internet debate is just one source of tension regarding air travel.

Both TikTok and Reddit users have shared their air travel horror stories. As a result, people are debating whether or not it’s ethical to swap seats mid-flight.

A user’s query last year about whether he was “an a-hole” for refusing to vacate a premium location for a mother and her children went global.

A mother is seen asking a lady in a popular video to switch from a window seat to an aisle seat.

The TikToker eventually went to slumber after saying no, but her mother did nothing to stop her from being “crawled” over by a kid.

Content creator Audrey Peters also weighed in after she was requested to leave her seat on an airplane and declined.

She stated in her note that she would rather sit in the outer ring than in the center.

Hundreds of users applauded in the comments after she repeated the viral TikTok audio in the footage, which states, “Girl, f-k them kids, and f-k you too.”
