A New York lawmaker called the disruptive protests against MTG the “social consequences for shameless bigotry.”

On Tuesday, after Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene led a demonstration in New York City condemning the arrest of former President Donald Trump, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised what she called “social consequences” for Greene.

On Thursday, a grand jury charged Trump for allegedly paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal hush money during the 2016 campaign. Political demonstrations erupted in the streets outside the courtroom on Monday as the former president landed in New York for his judicial appearance.

Before Trump’s hearing on Tuesday, Greene stood with a microphone and led a demonstration outside the courtroom in New York City to oppose the indictment and show support for the president, but progressive delegate AOC called her actions “shameless bigotry.”

We hope you enjoy your stay in the Big Apple!” After hearing that Republican representative Greene was being heckled by anti-Trump protesters at the gathering, AOC shot off a Twitter post at Greene, writing, “Where there are still social consequences for shameless bigotry.”

The remark followed accounts that protesters had been trying to drown out Greene by yelling and blowing sirens.

To calmly oppose the unfair treatment of an innocent man, we have gathered here. Greene informed the crowd, “This is not some random good guy; this is the former President of the United States of America.”

After Mayor Eric Adams asked Greene to be on her “best behavior” at Tuesday’s demonstration, Greene fired back.

Also, Mayor Adams, as you can plainly see, I am demonstrating here in a nonviolent fashion. “He addressed me by name,” Greene remarked.

On Tuesday, Trump made an appearance in court, where he pled not guilty to all counts.
