The Squad politician’s post has been criticized for inciting violence.
New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has taken heat over a tweet that some have deemed “inciting violence.”
Two Democrats were expelled from the Republican-controlled Tennessee House on Thursday for leading and participating in demonstrations that halted House activity in favor of gun reform.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter after the decision to remove her and posted footage of demonstrators shouting “F— you fascists” at Republican lawmakers.
Conservatives “may think they won in Tennessee today, but their fascism is only making young people more radical and waking up an earthquake of them,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. You haven’t seen anything yet compared to what young people can do when they band together. Zeros and ones don’t play games.
The Squad member’s use of the term “fascism” to characterize the effort to eliminate the two legislators drew widespread condemnation.
Do you have any idea what the word “fascist” refers to? You do realize that this is an LEFTIST proposal, right? You do realize that a solid central government is required, right? You must be aware that those on the “far right” prefer a minimal role for the state in their daily life. You’re impossible to have faith in. Heartland Institute socialist specialist Justin Haskins called it “disgusting.”
When someone on the opposing side of an issue calls for an opponent’s removal from office, they are accused of waging a “attack on democracy.” Andrew Follett, a prominent economist with the Club for Growth, said, “It’s different when they do it.”
Is it anti-Nazi to cast a ballot? I was under the impression that you communists welcomed the demonstrators that throng the streets of major cities. That’s weird. Ocasio-Cortez was interviewed by software business CEO Todd Cefaratti.
Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet warning Tennessee Republicans to “just wait for what’s coming” was seen by some as a threat.
Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was questioned by conservative radio presenter Kim Klacik, who said, “Are you calling for violence?”
Actor Nick Searcy tweeted, “This is a call for violence from @AOC.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson of the Democratic Party led an anti-gun rally at the state Capitol building last week. Republicans in the Tennessee state legislature claim this has never happened before.
Lawmakers demanded action on gun reform after six people, including three young children, were slain in a massacre at a private Christian school in Nashville, disrupting House business with cries of “no justice, no peace.”
Members of Parliament who participated in the protest had their committee assignments revoked on Monday and were voted out of office on Thursday. Democratic Representative Gloria Johnson narrowly avoided being expelled with by two votes.
