Former AG Bill Barr Believes Prosecutors Have ‘Evidence’ Trump Committed Obstruction Of Justice

On the weekend, Trump’s former attorney general, William Barr, said he believes federal prosecutors have “very good evidence” that Trump sought to derail the inquiry into how he handled classified material. Barr served as attorney general under Trump.

On the Easter Sunday episode of ABC News’ “This Week,” Barr made these comments. They were connected to a discussion about the four separate criminal investigations investigating former President Trump.

According to Barr, the Manhattan case where Trump was just charged with 34 counts of crime is very weak and a “clear example” of exploiting the legal system to support a politician.

According to Barr, Democrats are trying to “get in the middle of the Republican primary process and turn it into a circus” by conducting these investigations.

For Barr, “he is the weakest of the Republican candidates and most likely to lose again to Biden,” thus “smart Democratic strategists know this will help Trump” and “they want him to be the nominee.”

Barr claims that investigators have solid evidence that Trump committed obstruction of justice when he sought to prevent them from seizing documents and other sensitive items belonging to the United States government from his Mar-a-Lago home.

Barr claimed that the raid on Mar-a-Lago occurred after over a year and a half of “trying to get the documents from him, which he had no right to.” He had no business looking at these secret documents. The government was the owner. Because of this, I believe he was attempting to deceive the authorities. They placed an order for it as well. They forced him to sign several documents for them.

And yet, “the government is looking into how much games were played and whether there was any interference to keep documents from them,” he claimed. And I think that’s a fair argument to make. If that’s the case, I’d say they have solid evidence.

Barr claims there is a “very good chance” that Trump will face criminal charges.
