South Dakota’s governor, Kristi Noem, caused a stir when she said her granddaughter, who is just a year old, had her own shotgun and rifle.

Speaking at the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum in Indiana, the Republican governor made the remarks in question.

Noem released a video to Twitter in which she boasted that her almost two-year-old granddaughter, Addie, owned both the firearms and a pony named Sparkles.

Addie, who is almost two years old, and Branch, who is just a few months old, have been wonderful additions to our family. We have a reason to be here, Noem addressed the crowd.

Now, I want to comfort you that Addie, who you know will soon need them, already has a shotgun, a rifle, and a miniature pony named Sparkles. Therefore, the girl has been set up, the conservative continued.

Noem has been a strong advocate for gun rights for a long time, and she used her appearance at the NRA gathering to sign an executive order to strengthen gun rights protections in South Dakota.

Her remarks regarding Addie were met with backlash on social media.

Kassidy, Noem’s daughter, married Kyle Peters, and they had a daughter named Addie.

It’s not easy for me not to be a “helicopter” grandma, but I’m trying my best….It’s possible I’ll have to scrap that plan. Noem commented on Facebook the day her granddaughter was born, “Miss Addie and I have so many adventures to plan.”

How can I get in touch with South Dakota’s Department of Child Welfare Services? Saying, “Someone needs to report this child neglect,” Jayme Ruimveld called for action.

Extremely repulsive. Chris Jackson exclaimed, “How the hell is this real life in America?”

Tom Mallory made the observation that a two-year-old who pulled the trigger on a shotgun held to his or her shoulder would be pushed down and probably hurt.

“Are you kidding me?! What?!?!? said PJ Byrne incredulously.

“These gun nuts are really deranged. They require an AK-47 to go to the pharmacy, yet acting as if firearms are perfectly safe to give to a two-year-old. There is no need for a two-year-old to have access to a firearm, said Lnonblonde.

What the heck would a two-year-old do with a shotgun and a rifle, you ask? I imagine someone gave it to you, but wouldn’t a lovely new clothing serve you better in the long run? tweeting Gary Orvold.

‘WOW. My 2-year-old grandson loves to do cartwheels, leap off sofas, and play with puzzles, books, musical instruments, and hot wheels vehicles. What am I doing wrong? a new grandparent was added.
