California Dem Sticks It To D.C. Power Players

Even though she is a fellow Democrat from California, one legislator in the House is not scared to keep calling on Sen. Dianne Feinstein to step down. His detractors, he claims, are powerful Washington insiders who are defying logic by not backing his cause.

Silicon Valley representative Ro Khanna didn’t mind the blowback when he called for Feinstein to resign due of her shingles absence from Capitol Hill.

To the anchor of Fox News Sunday, Shannon Bream, Khanna said, “Only in Washington would you get in trouble for saying something so obvious.”

Despite my high regard for her, Senator Feinstein has missed 75 percent of votes in 2017. She has not been present, and she has no intention of doing so. We have no idea if she will even show up.He affirmed that she will return whenever she was ready.

At 89 years old, Feinstein is the Senate’s senior member, and her mental state has come into question in recent years.

Among those who have spoken out against the calls for Feinstein to resign is former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). She claimed sexism was behind the repeated phone calls.

Khanna has dismissed the rebuttal on the basis of gender. He did the same thing on Sunday while discussing Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman’s (Fetterman) hospitalization for depression. He came to this conclusion because, unlike Feinstein, Fetterman was likely to return to work this upcoming week.

“It’s one thing to become sick and then come back to work.Khanna said, “This is yet another example of you failing to perform your duties.” Truthfully, it seems like you owe it to these senators who have served for so long to treat them with some degree of deference. The American people deserve better treatment. Isn’t it fair that those who join up for these duties are expected to carry them out?

At the start of March, Feinstein said that she had been admitted to a San Francisco hospital for treatment of shingles.

Senator Feinstein revealed this week that her return to Washington, D.C. has been “delayed due to continued complications” from her illness, despite her previous aim of returning by the end of March. While she recovers, Senator Feinstein requested Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to temporarily fill in for her on the Judiciary Committee, which has been holding up the confirmation of judicial nominations.

Although Feinstein said in February that she will not seek re-election in 2024, she has not bowed to pressure to resign before that time. Well-known House Democrats Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee have all declared their intention to challenge Feinstein for her Senate seat. Khanna is a key figure in Lee’s campaign.

Bream said that California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, had promised to choose a black woman to succeed Feinstein if she stepped down early. Khanna was questioned by the interviewer whether he was demanding Feinstein go because Lee, who is black, is a potential replacement. Khanna denied that he was.

I’m thrilled to be co-chairing Barbara Lee’s campaign. According to Khanna, “he was one of the strongest voices in Congress against war, and he was against these foreign interventions.”

On the other hand, Governor Newsom can choose a leader. He need not select a candidate from the current pool. And if the governor did that, I’d agree with him,” he remarked. A guardian would take care of the existing race, therefore this has nothing to do with it. This is a story of somebody who just doesn’t appear.

Khanna added that his comments were “what people have been saying in private” and that people in the Beltway “don’t like it when you call out someone in power.”
