Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina in the Senate, has stated that he believes it would be a waste of time to try to impeach President Joe Biden without first following the appropriate procedures. In an interview that took place on Friday, Graham emphasized the significance of providing proper due process while criticizing the strategy of taking articles of impeachment directly to the floor of the House of Representatives. He recalled how the Democrats had failed to provide the necessary due process to former President Trump during the hearings leading up to his impeachment, and he argued that the same mistake should not be repeated with President Biden. Graham declared that such a measure would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate and that it would not be successful.
Graham emphasized the need to adhere to the established procedure and urged anyone who believes President Biden has committed impeachable offenses to submit their case through the committee in order to provide the president with an opportunity to respond. Graham also emphasized the need to follow the established process. The senator also described as “irresponsible” the act of impeaching someone without first providing them with due process, highlighting the significance of being fair and adhering to the norms that have been established.
A motion to impeach President Biden for his handling of the border issue was recently presented by Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who is a member of the Republican Party. Nevertheless, the plan did not receive support from significant Republicans in the House, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). McCarthy expressed concern that Boebert’s actions could undermine the important work that is being performed in the House, particularly investigations relating to the president and his son, Hunter Biden. McCarthy also expressed concern that Boebert’s actions could compromise the integrity of the House.
