Sometimes, amidst the vast realm of cyberspace, you stumble upon an individual who rekindles faith in the enduring American spirit and reminds us that flickers of hope still burn bright in this remarkable nation of ours.
Enter Scott LoBaido, an artist hailing from New York City, who has become a beacon of inspiration, capturing the hearts of many with his recent act of defiance against a proposed regulation that threatens to burden certain restaurants with exorbitant costs in the name of combating climate change.
In a video shared on Monday, LoBaido fearlessly marched up to the gates of New York’s City Hall, armed with conviction and a scripted message, boldly proclaiming, “The misguided individuals in charge of this city are determined to dismantle it.”
He proceeded to enumerate a litany of pressing issues afflicting the city, ranging from moral decay and rampant illegal immigration to skyrocketing crime rates and beyond.
LoBaido then introduced the world to “The New York Pizza Party,” a nod to the historical significance of “The Boston Tea Party,” and promptly launched slices of pizza over the fence of City Hall, symbolizing his protest.
While LoBaido’s speech may have been brash, crude, and uncensored, his underlying message rings true. Instead of tackling the multitude of pressing challenges that plague New York, the city appears fixated on climate change theatrics.
According to reports, the proposed policy from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection would compel restaurants utilizing coal or wood-fired ovens to dramatically reduce their carbon emissions by up to 75%.
Ted Timbers, spokesperson for the department, asserted, “Every resident of New York deserves to breathe clean air, and the use of wood and coal-fired stoves represents a significant source of harmful pollutants, particularly in areas with already compromised air quality.”
“This sensible regulation, developed in collaboration with environmental justice groups and the restaurant industry, mandates a professional evaluation of the feasibility of installing emission control mechanisms.”
For pizzerias that have been employing coal or wood-fired ovens since before May 2016, this rule could mean the costly acquisition of sophisticated air filtration systems to rein in their emissions.
Yet, not everyone is in favor of this ruling. A Brooklyn-based pizza establishment commended LoBaido for his courageous stance, declaring, “You’re our hero. NY PIZZA is not to be trifled with! Will our fryers be next?” Paesans Pizza in Brooklyn tweeted, displaying their support for this pizza-loving patriot.
And for those concerned about potential legal repercussions for LoBaido’s audacious act, fear not, for he merely received a summons. “Cops were present. They were great. I only got a summons. Everything is fine. I’ve made my point,” he reassured his followers on Twitter.
This is not the first time that LoBaido has boldly voiced his political opinions. He has long been an unwavering supporter of former President Trump, utilizing his artistic talents to critique those on the left. Recently, he was even interviewed by Fox News regarding his response to a new sculpture intended to honor undocumented immigrants.
All in all, it appears that a new dawn has broken upon America, and pizza has become the breakfast of champions.
