Dylan Mulvaney, the trans influencer who was at the center of a storm of controversy after partnering with Bud Light in April, has fled to Peru for some much-needed solo travel and soul searching.
In a series of videos posted to her TikTok account, Mulvaney has shared her experiences of traveling in South America, including frolicking with llamas at Machu Picchu and participating in shaman ceremonies.
“I came here to feel something,” Mulvaney says in one video. “And I definitely have. I have done shaman ceremonies that were like 10 years worth of therapy, it was wild.”
Mulvaney’s journey to Peru is a story of both personal and political transformation. In the United States, she has faced harassment and discrimination for being transgender. But in Peru, she has found a place where she feels safe and accepted.
“I feel very safe here,” Mulvaney says. “It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe, but that will get better eventually.”
Mulvaney’s journey is also a reminder of the power of travel to heal and transform. By stepping outside of her comfort zone and exploring a new culture, Mulvaney has found a new sense of self and belonging.
“This trip has me feeling like my own best friend again,” she says. “And that is the best feeling in the world.”
Mulvaney’s story is a powerful one, and it is sure to inspire others who are searching for their own path to self-discovery. She is a beacon of hope for transgender people everywhere, and her journey is a reminder that there is beauty and acceptance to be found in the world.
