During an episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” podcaster Joe Rogan and rapper Ice Cube delved into the reasons behind Bud Light’s ill-fated partnership with transgender TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Ice Cube raised questions about the decision-making process within Bud Light’s corporate structure, wondering who was responsible for enlisting Mulvaney and whether they were intentionally trying to undermine the brand. He expressed concern about the potential destruction of iconic American brands and the motives behind such actions.
Rogan echoed Ice Cube’s sentiments, emphasizing that many Americans are tired of woke politics infiltrating their lives. He noted that people are growing weary of controversial issues being forced upon them, with the expectation that they must unquestioningly accept them. Rogan stated, “Politics really shouldn’t be in someone’s beer mug.”
Both Rogan and Ice Cube argued that Bud Light’s failure was not a deliberate attempt to anger its fan base, but rather a misguided business decision stemming from a disconnect between Bud Light corporate and its customers. Rogan criticized the brand’s lack of understanding of regular, blue-collar individuals who enjoy watching football and drinking Bud Light. He referred to Mulvaney as a mentally ill attention seeker.
The conversation also touched upon singer Kid Rock’s public display of discontent with Bud Light, as he used the beer cans for target practice in a viral video. Rogan humorously remarked that when Kid Rock starts shooting at a brand’s cans, it signifies significant problems.
Ice Cube emphasized that it is the regular employees of Bud Light who suffer the most from such decisions. He pointed out that middle-class workers, such as those in distribution centers and beer delivery, ultimately bear the brunt of the repercussions, risking job loss due to the brand’s decline.
Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, did not respond immediately to a request for comment on the matter.
