Ex-VP Pence Speaks Out Against Trump in Wake of Jan 6 Indictment

Former Vice President Mike Pence pulled no punches responding to Donald Trump’s indictment, accusing him of elevating self over country.

Pence stated the charges related to January 6th and election interference show Trump’s priorities lie with himself rather than America’s Constitution. He argued a Trump candidacy would detract focus from Biden’s “disastrous” policies.

Bluntly asserting no one placing themselves above the law should become president, Pence acknowledged Trump’s right to presumed innocence. But he insisted Trump’s bid would inevitably resurrect January 6th while critical issues demand attention.

Pence stressed the Constitution eclipses any individual’s career. He reaffirmed his commitment to America’s character, values and oath of office – even when it required defying Trump’s demands on that infamous day.

If elected, Pence vowed to defend the nation’s interests and ideals without compromising his constitutional duty. In his view, no ambition outweighs safeguarding America’s institutions and identity.

Trump now faces a second federal indictment from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe, intensifying Pence’s calls for moving past his divisive brand of politics. With Trump still leading 2024 polls, Pence aims to convince voters that America’s future relies on constitutional fidelity – not personal whims.
