Following the tragic discovery of the lifeless body of Rachel Morin, a mother of five from Maryland, on a hiking trail, her new boyfriend, Richard Tobin, strongly denied any involvement in her demise as police initiated a homicide investigation.

Amidst swirling speculation, the 27-year-old Tobin, who has a history of criminal offenses, took to Facebook to address the rumors. He adamantly asserted, “I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve. Yes, I have a past, but I also have 15 months clean and have transformed as a person. Please,” he wrote under his updated relationship status indicating that Morin is his girlfriend, modified on August 1.

On Saturday at 11:30 p.m., Tobin reported Morin missing when she failed to return home from a hike on the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, located about 30 miles north of Baltimore. She was last seen at her residence wearing a dark tank top, black spandex shorts, and gray sneakers before embarking on her hike around 6 p.m.

Morin’s vehicle was discovered at the entrance of the trailhead on Williams Street and was subsequently taken to the criminal investigations division for examination, according to police.

The following day, authorities were notified of the discovery of a woman’s body near the trail, believed to be Morin. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler, during a press conference, revealed that investigators suspected a homicide based on evidence at the scene.

While awaiting the medical examiner’s comprehensive report, including the cause of death and formal identification of the body as Morin, the investigation continues. The circumstances surrounding Morin’s tragic passing have deeply affected her family, who recently endured the loss of her niece to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). In an effort to honor Morin and support her children, her sister, Rebekah Morin, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her burial and to provide for her family’s future.

As the family seeks justice for Rachel Morin’s untimely demise, Rebekah Morin urged individuals with information to reach out to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. In a heartfelt message, she expressed her love and longing for her sister and appealed for the truth to prevail.

Richard Tobin was not immediately available for comment on the matter.
