Following a days-long search in Anchorage, Alaska, an Army soldier finds himself behind bars, charged with the murder of his wife, whose body was tragically discovered concealed in a storm drain.

The Anchorage Police Department’s announcement on Friday morning revealed that 21-year-old Zarrius Hildabrand had been arrested and confined to the Anchorage Jail. He faces charges of first-degree and second-degree murder, along with tampering with evidence. A significant $500,000 bail has been set in relation to the murder of his wife, 21-year-old Saria Hildabrand.

The chilling discovery of Saria’s lifeless body within a storm drain directly led to her husband’s apprehension. Saria, a combat medic with the Alaska National Guard, vanished on August 6, a distressing situation that deeply impacted her family.

Zarrius was reportedly the last person to have contact with Saria before she departed for her workplace at Bread & Brew Alaska on a Sunday morning. He formally reported her missing the following Monday, according to accounts from her family.

Meredith Barney, Saria’s mother, conveyed her shock at the unfolding events in an interview with the Anchorage Daily News. She expressed her astonishment that her daughter’s husband was the one who assisted in the search for her, even though he had knowledge of her tragic fate. “He walked around for hours with me searching for my daughter, knowing that she was dead,” Barney shared, unveiling a series of lies and attempts to feign concern by Zarrius.

A GoFundMe page established by family and friends paints a picture of Saria as an extroverted, affectionate individual. Having relocated to Alaska at the year’s commencement, she had plans to enroll in college courses during the upcoming fall semester, nurturing aspirations of pursuing a career in the field of medicine.
