Trump’s Director Stays Behind Bars without Bond in GA Election Fraud Case

Among the 19 defendants in Fulton County, former Black Voices for Trump director Harrison Floyd is the first to be jailed without bail. Floyd, 39, surrendered to authorities on a Thursday afternoon in Georgia’s Fulton County. This comes after former president Donald Trump and his co-conspirators ignored prosecutor Fani Willis’s demand that they turn themselves up by Friday at noon or face charges.

Floyd has been charged with racketeering, witness tampering, and conspiracy to encourage false statements. Floyd, unlike other prisoners who negotiated bail, remained in detention after failing to do so. The timing of his surrender is noteworthy, coming only hours before Trump was expected to turn himself in and perhaps become the first ex-president to have a mugshot taken.

Floyd was accused of assaulting an FBI agent earlier this year in connection with Special Counsel Jack Smith’s parallel investigation into potential election involvement by Trump allies in 2020. When the agent went to bring Floyd before a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., he allegedly had an altercation with Floyd. Floyd reportedly yelled obscenities and made physical contact with the agent during their altercation, as detailed in the affidavit.

Among those accused of forcing poll worker Ruby Freeman to make false claims about committing electoral fraud in Fulton County are Floyd, police chaplain Stephen Cliffgard Lee, and Kanye West’s former publicist Trevian Kutti. Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss were the subjects of rumors that they were complicit in electoral fraud. Trump and his supporters have spread these falsehoods.

Floyd is suspected of encouraging Freeman to believe these fabrications. He said that he had lied to Freeman about his status with the Trump campaign and instead requested Kutti to meet with him on January 4, 2021. Freeman was contacted by Kutti, who allegedly mentioned a “high-profile individual” in an effort to get her buy into their version of events.

Reuters received video from a police body camera showing Kutti telling Freeman that she would be safe if she helped him. Kutti placed Floyd’s voice, who they thought was “Harrison Ford,” on speakerphone to lend credibility to their accusations. Freeman became suspicious and summoned an officer, certain that he would not be a part of any vote-buying operation.

Trump’s supporters have gone to great lengths in this case to provide evidence of voting fraud. On Thursday night, Trump is expected to turn up at the same prison as Floyd to be detained on accusations connected to election tampering. Constant attention is being paid to the intricate court processes and claims connected to these incidents.
