The press conference held by Vice President Joe Biden in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the wake of the G20 summit held in New Delhi, India, was cut short when a member of the vice president’s staff seemed to announce the completion of questions while the vice president was still addressing the media. Discussions on a wide range of themes, including human rights, climate change, and global warming, took place concurrently with the news conference.

During the press conference, when Vice President Biden was responding to a question, someone from his crew was heard saying, “thank you everybody,” and the president likewise thanked the media before exiting the stage. Karine Jean-Pierre, who serves as the press secretary for the White House, has been identified as the person who cut off the president’s comments.

Before the press conference was over, the president answered questions from a total of seven different reporters. In answer to a question on human rights, Vice President Biden indicated that he does not prioritize anything more than human rights and that he has brought up human rights issues with each and every leader he has seen during the summit.

During the G20 Summit, Vice President Biden brought up both the issue of climate change as well as the lack of consensus about fossil fuels. He referred to persons who had previously disputed the existence of global warming but had now acknowledged that it is a problem by using the term “lying, dog-faced pony soldiers” to characterize them.

An official from the White House defended the president by claiming that he had addressed questions from different reporters during the news conference and advised readers to concentrate on the substance content of his comments on various themes. The person was speaking in defense of the president.

The president’s words on human rights and climate change as well as the unexpectedly quick finish of the news conference captured the attention of the public.
