The legal team representing Hunter Biden has taken former Trump White House employee Garret Ziegler to court, alleging that he violated California and federal computer privacy laws when he published thousands of photographs and emails that were taken from Hunter Biden’s notorious laptop. The action was filed on behalf of Hunter Biden. Ziegler is accused of accessing, tampering with, manipulating, altering, copying, and damaging computer data that he did not possess. He claims to have gotten the material by hacking into Hunter Biden’s iPhone data and searching through a duplicate of the laptop’s hard drive. The 14-page lawsuit argues that Ziegler is responsible for these actions.
Ziegler, who once held the position of policy analyst for former President Donald Trump, established the charitable organization Marco Polo and started the website BidenLaptopMedia.com with the intention of providing “truth and transparency” about the Biden family. The website made contentious material, such as obscene images and emails, available to the public after accessing the laptop belonging to Hunter Biden.
In the beginning, Hunter Biden cast doubt on who really owned the laptop and said that it was all part of a plot to spread false information. After some time had passed, he vouched for its genuineness and claimed ownership.
Since he left his position at the White House in 2021, the plaintiff in the complaint, Ziegler, is accused of devoting a substantial amount of time and effort to obtaining and exploiting the information contained on the laptop. In addition to this, it refers to a recent comment that Ziegler made on social media about reacting violently to the judicial process.
Ziegler gave a response to the complaint, in which he said that he had not been served with any legal papers and implied that the case was without basis. The legal team representing Hunter Biden has asked for a trial by jury, citing the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act as well as California’s Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act as its justification.
The complaint was filed when investigations into Hunter Biden’s international business operations, as well as charges of tax evasion and weapons acquisitions, were already underway. Ziegler and the other individuals who shared the information from the laptop have been named as suspects in a criminal investigation that has been requested by Hunter Biden and directed to the Justice Department.
More than 120,000 emails from the laptop have been made available to the public on the website BidenLaptopEmails.com.
