In a recent CNN interview, Rep. Ayanna Pressley claimed that the U.S.-Mexico border is secure, despite acknowledging the flow of migrants into the U.S. This statement comes amid ongoing concerns about border security and the increasing numbers of illegal immigrants entering the country.

CNN host Jake Tapper questioned Pressley about Republican concerns regarding the lack of additional border security funding in an upcoming bipartisan Senate bill. He asked if something needed to be done about the “crisis at the border.” Pressley responded that the border is secure but emphasized the humanitarian crisis and the need to fix a broken immigration system.

Tapper sought clarification, asking if she believed the border was secure. Pressley reiterated that the border is secure while emphasizing the humanitarian crisis created by a broken system.

Tapper pressed for clarification again, pointing out the contradiction between millions of undocumented migrants entering the country and a secure border. Pressley continued to refer to the situation as a humanitarian crisis and did not directly address the issue of border security.

Ultimately, Tapper asked Pressley if she would grant that the border is not secure, to which she responded that it was a conversation for another day, as she was focused on preventing a government shutdown.

The interview highlights the ongoing debate over border security and immigration policies in the United States, with differing opinions on the current state of the border and the appropriate response to the crisis.
