The White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, commented on the ousting of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and the potential changes in House leadership. She characterized the situation as “shambolic behavior” from House Republicans and emphasized that it was a situation created by them. She declined to delve deeper into the specifics of House leadership changes, stating that it is for House Republicans to figure out how they will move forward.

President Joe Biden also declined to comment on the next House Speaker, stating that it was “above his pay grade.”

Jean-Pierre criticized House Republicans for the chaos and infighting within their party, suggesting that they need to resolve the situation they created.

On Tuesday, McCarthy was removed as House Speaker through a roll-call vote led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), with several other Republican representatives joining in the motion to vacate McCarthy.

The White House emphasized Biden’s willingness to work with Republicans on bipartisan issues and expressed the hope that the infighting in the House would cease.
