After seeking refuge in Israel after Hamas launched an unexpected bombardment from Gaza, Senator Cory Booker, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has now left the country. Booker was in Israel when the attack began. Booker had come all the way to Israel in order to make a speech at an event commemorating the Abraham Accords, which were an agreement between Israel and several Arab countries that was intended to normalize ties between Israel and those nations.

Booker and the team who were traveling with him were in Jerusalem when the Hamas strikes started, and they took cover there in order to protect themselves. They were allowed to leave Israel in a risk-free manner.

After the Islamist organization Hamas conducted an offensive that included missiles and gunmen crossing the border, Israel responded by declaring war on Hamas. The incident resulted in deaths and kidnappings. As of Sunday, it was reported that hundreds of people had been killed, and thousands more had been injured, in Israel and Gaza.

Booker has denounced the acts of violence, abduction, and terror committed by Hamas against Israeli residents, and he has voiced his solidarity for the Israeli people as well as the families of the victims.

According to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Biden administration is investigating into claims of Americans being slain or held prisoner in Israel. Blinken made this statement on behalf of the government.

As a precautionary step and in reaction to the assaults, police officers in locations with significant Jewish populations, such as Booker’s home state of New Jersey, intensified their patrols near Jewish and Islamic houses of worship and implemented additional safety precautions.
