Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and made remarks about his fellow politicians in Congress. When asked by Colbert if it’s awkward to encounter the colleagues he has criticized in his memes while in the Capitol cafeteria, Fetterman responded by saying that the best and brightest aren’t necessarily being sent to Washington, D.C. He expressed disbelief that some individuals are making crucial decisions affecting the government, labeling it “scary.” Fetterman also pointed out the recent near-government shutdown, stating that some individuals would have been content to let it happen, which he considered “dangerous.”

During the interview, Fetterman and Colbert discussed a range of topics, including the Senate dress code. Colbert gifted Fetterman a tuxedo t-shirt, poking fun at the emphasis on clothing choices in the Senate.

Fetterman expressed support for Israel in the wake of recent terrorist attacks by Hamas and criticized the absence of a House speaker. He stressed his commitment to supporting Israel and other international issues, even though he lamented the current political gridlock.

In conclusion, Fetterman presented Colbert with a black Carhartt hoodie at the end of their discussion.
