Former Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro has accepted a plea deal from Fulton County prosecutors in the case related to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Chesebro pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit filing of false documents. In exchange, he will pay a $5,000 fine and serve five years on probation. He has also agreed to testify against other defendants in the case.
Chesebro had been indicted on seven felony counts, including conspiracy charges and violations of the Georgia RICO Act. This plea deal comes after Sidney Powell, another attorney from Trump’s legal team, pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the same case, including misdemeanor counts of conspiracy. Powell will serve six years of probation, pay fines, and write an apology to the citizens of the state. She has also agreed to testify against the remaining defendants, including Trump.
These developments indicate that multiple former members of Trump’s legal team are now cooperating with prosecutors as they pursue cases against Trump and Rudy Giuliani, both of whom face 13 felony counts related to their alleged efforts to overturn the election results in Georgia.
