Republican hopeful Larry Elder formally announced the end of his presidential campaign last Thursday and promptly voiced his support for former President Donald Trump.

Elder conveyed deep appreciation for his followers, recognizing their unwavering energy and grassroots involvement. He further elaborated on his decision, noting that after a thorough evaluation of his campaign’s progress and the existing dynamics of the race, he felt it was best to step aside.

During his campaign journey, Elder was firm in his convictions, emphasizing the challenges facing the nation, such as the issue of fatherlessness, refuting the idea of systemic racism in America, and promoting a constitutional amendment to peg federal spending to a fixed GDP percentage. This, he believed, would counteract the unchecked growth of government irrespective of the party in power. He also voiced concerns over certain District Attorneys who, in his view, were reluctant to uphold the law.

Elder stressed the societal implications of broken family structures and the increasing crime rates in the U.S., saying, “The erosion of stable familial ties and the lack of positive paternal role models in the lives of numerous children have profound societal effects, visible in the present crime trends in the nation. I aspire that my campaign has illuminated these paramount challenges and ignited meaningful discussions on potential solutions.”

Earlier this year, Elder, renowned as a conservative radio commentator and once a contender in the recall race against Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, declared his presidential aspirations during a chat with Fox News. He passionately shared that he felt a deep-rooted moral, spiritual, and nationalistic obligation to join the fray.

Controversy followed in August when Elder expressed his intention to take legal action against the Republican National Committee (RNC) for excluding him from the inaugural GOP debate. The RNC clarified that Elder hadn’t satisfied the necessary criteria concerning donor count and polling metrics. In response, Elder accused them of deliberate marginalization, saying during a media post, “We initially thought the playing field was tilted; now it’s evident how skewed it truly is. It seems the RNC’s higher-ups have reservations about my presence on the debate platform.”

However, recent survey data indicated that Elder’s campaign garnered a modest support range of 0-1%.

In his concluding remarks last Thursday, Elder expressed his endorsement for Trump, commending his leadership for steering the nation with a conservative and “America-first” stance. He asserted, “It’s imperative for the Republican Party to consolidate its support around Trump to challenge Joe Biden and counteract his unprecedented electoral interventions and the progressive tilt of the nation.”

Elder concluded, “My heartfelt thanks to every individual – be it a supporter, volunteer, or donor – who championed our campaign. From the heartlands of Iowa to the scenic beauty of New Hampshire and the deserts of Nevada, I remain indebted for having connected with so many inspiring Americans who resonate with our ethos.”
