In a Manhattan trial, Eric Trump, the son of former President Donald Trump, strongly criticized the $250 million civil fraud case against his family after his testimony. Eric Trump appeared in court wearing nearly identical attire for two consecutive days during his testimony, sporting the same navy suit, light blue tie, white dress shirt, brown oxford shoes, and even the same printed light blue socks.
After concluding his testimony, Eric Trump addressed the press outside the courtroom and took issue with New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is prosecuting the case, and the judge overseeing it. He echoed his father’s sentiments that the trial is a politically motivated witch hunt.
Eric Trump claimed that the trial was a “big charade” and a waste of taxpayer money, asserting that it’s a contributing factor to people leaving New York. He voiced his confidence in his family’s innocence and their prospects for success in the trial, stating, “Guys, we’re going to win this thing because we haven’t done anything wrong.”
Eric Trump also mentioned that his father, Donald Trump, would testify in court on Monday and that he was “fired up” about the case, considering it a grave injustice.
The trial involves Eric Trump’s testimony, following his brother Don Jr.’s appearance on the stand. It is expected to be followed by the former president’s testimony on Monday and their sister Ivanka’s testimony on Wednesday.
In this lawsuit, the two elder Trump sons, their father, and the Trump Organization are defendants. They are accused of alleged fraud, with Donald Trump accused of inflating his assets on annual financial statements over a decade to secure more favorable loan and insurance terms.
Both Don Jr. and Eric Trump claimed under oath that they had no involvement in their father’s financial statements and relied on accountants and lawyers for accuracy. Eric Trump stated that he had never worked on these statements, and Don Jr. asserted that he had no involvement in their compilation.
However, the AG’s office confronted Eric with evidence suggesting he knew about the financial statements and helped formulate property valuations for the Trump Organization.
Ivanka Trump’s bid to avoid testifying was denied, and she will testify as ordered by the court.
Furthermore, there have been claims of judicial bias in the case, with Trump’s lawyer expressing concerns about notes received by the judge from a court clerk. The judge has issued a limited gag order in response to the public statements about his court staff, with financial penalties imposed for violations.
This trial has garnered significant attention due to its association with the Trump family and the allegations of financial impropriety. It remains to be seen how the case will progress and what impact it may have on the individuals involved.
