In a recent turn of events, esteemed actor Jon Voight expressed his disquiet over his daughter, actress Angelina Jolie’s stance on the conflict in Gaza. Voight, in a self-recorded video shared across social media platforms on Friday, revealed his discontentment with Jolie’s call for a ceasefire in the region, denoting the situation as a war where civilities are currently misplaced.

In her own words, Angelina Jolie articulated her distress over the violence on social media, explicitly denouncing the hostilities initiated by Hamas against Israel. However, she articulated that such actions do not warrant the consequential deaths of civilians in Gaza, a region already constrained by limited spatial refuge.

Jolie’s post, which called for humanitarian pause, emphasized the value of all lives, irrespective of nationality, underscoring that both Palestinian and Israeli lives, along with all global citizens, hold equivalent worth.

Contrastingly, Voight’s message broadcasted his dismay, citing that his daughter lacked insight into what he termed as “God’s honor.” He voiced a poignant message highlighting the attacks on civilians in Israel, including “innocent babies, mothers, fathers, grandparents,” referring to the assailants with intense disapproval.

Voight implored for a recognition of truth and justice, imploring an acknowledgment of Hamas’s leadership, which he believes is the real culprit in the devastation of their people, not Israel.

This familial difference in views echoes a broader call to action by numerous prominent figures in the entertainment industry. A collective of Hollywood luminaries, including Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, and Jon Stewart, among others, appended their signatures to a letter addressing President Biden. The correspondence appealed to the President to advocate for an immediate reduction in hostilities and a ceasefire between Gaza and Israel to prevent further loss of life.

Amidst these appeals, some members of the “Squad,” a group of progressive Democrats, have also been vocal in their calls for a ceasefire following the aggressive actions attributed to Hamas.
