In a recent update from Nashville, officials from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) clarified the status of certain images that have been widely shared across social media platforms, claiming to show excerpts from the manifesto of the individual responsible for the tragic Nashville event. On Monday afternoon, MNPD officials stated unequivocally that the images in question are not recognized as part of the official crime scene documentation.
This development followed an earlier interaction with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), during which Breitbart News sought confirmation regarding the authenticity of the images believed to be linked to the shooter’s manifesto. TBI spokesperson Josh Devine acknowledged awareness of the images but refrained from verifying their authenticity.
In the wake of these events, the MNPD has issued a formal statement:
“The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is actively engaging with the Metropolitan Department of Law to investigate the unauthorized spread of three images purported to show written excerpts pertaining to the Covenant School discussion online. These images are confirmed not to be obtained from MNPD crime scene evidence.”
The MNPD is also providing support to the Covenant School community, having established contact with a representative for the affected families and making departmental counselors available to help them navigate the distress caused by the images’ release.
The contentious images were initially disseminated by Steven Crowder via an online platform, Twitter/X, featuring inflammatory statements that were allegedly made by Audrey Hale, the accused individual, targeting racial groups and mentioning “white privileges.”
In a separate report, The Tennessee Star, which has connections to former Breitbart journalist Michael Patrick Leahy, claimed that its sources within the Tennessee General Assembly verified the images after reportedly being permitted to view the manifesto by the MNPD.
Moreover, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell has taken a proactive stance by ordering an in-depth inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized release of the manifesto images. WSMV 4 reports that Mayor O’Connell expressed deep concern for the well-being of the Covenant School families and all Nashville residents affected by this incident.
“I have tasked Wally Dietz, Metro’s Director of Law, to lead a thorough investigation into the potential leakage of these sensitive images,” Mayor O’Connell stated. “This investigation may extend to involve multiple levels of law enforcement, including local, state, and federal agencies. The safety and peace of mind of our community members are of utmost priority.”
The situation remains under close scrutiny as local authorities work to manage the implications of this unauthorized information release and ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
