In a notable escalation of the inquiry into the business dealings of President Joe Biden’s family, Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to four individuals closely linked to the Bidens on Wednesday. The Chairman’s actions suggest a broadening of the scope of the investigation, which now involves several figures in the Biden family’s business enterprises.
The individuals summoned via subpoena are Eric Schwerin, known in some circles as the “Moneyman,” Mervyn Yan, who previously held a senior position at CEFC China Energy Co., art dealer Georges Bergès, and art purchaser Elizabeth Naftali. In addition to the subpoenas, a request was made for a detailed interview with Carol Fox, the trustee of Americore Health, LLC.
Chairman Comer, in his quest for thoroughness, did not limit his actions to subpoenas. The committee also reached out to other associates of the Biden family, including Joey Langston, John Hynansky—a Ukrainian-American businessman and substantial donor to Joe Biden over the years—and Jason Galanis.
In a statement made available to the press, Chairman Comer detailed the committee’s determination to thoroughly investigate the involvement of President Biden in what he described as the “sale of access” to high levels of the U.S. government by the Biden family and their partners. This investigation, according to Comer, is grounded in a diverse collection of evidence, including banking records, communications, and a prior interview with Devon Archer, a business associate of the Biden family.
The previous day’s actions by the committee included delivering subpoenas to Hunter Biden, James Biden, and their associate Rob Walker. Moreover, Chairman Comer invited whistleblower Tony Bobulinski and various members of the Biden family to testify before the committee voluntarily. The list of family members invited includes Sara Biden, Hallie Biden (who is also the widow of Beau Biden and was previously involved with Hunter Biden), Elizabeth Secundy (sister of Hallie Biden), and Melissa Cohen, who is married to Hunter Biden.
These developments come amid growing pressure and scrutiny of the Biden family’s business operations, as the committee continues to signal its commitment to uncovering the full extent of these dealings.
