The Hamas organization, a notorious terrorist organization, pursues objectives that go beyond its widely known opposition to Israel and Jews. Surprisingly, it has been documented that Hamas harbors animosity toward Christians, individuals of diverse religious affiliations, and even members of prominent community organizations such as the Lions Club and the Rotary Club, in addition to the Jewish community.

Author and expert on the Middle East Walid Phares emphasizes Hamas’ jihadist nature and the danger it poses not only to Western democracies, but also to the United States and Canada. He emphasizes that the organization’s objectives are worldwide, as they target non-believers, which, by definition, comprises a significant portion of mainstream America.

Adopted on August 18, 1988, the Hamas charter, referred to as “The Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement,” encapsulates this ideology. The charter unequivocally advocates for Jihad, or sacred war, as the sole resolution to the Palestinian issue, and not only condemns Jews but also Christians who do not adhere to Hamas’s ideology.

“Iran, An Imperialistic Republic and U.S. Policy,” Phares’s new book, examines the strategies employed by Tehran’s auxiliaries, such as Hamas, to spread their hateful message. He cautions against these groups’ sophisticated comprehension of Western societies and their presence therein.

It is noteworthy that the Hamas charter also expressly criticizes ostensibly charitable and benign organizations such as Freemason societies, Rotary Clubs, and Lions Clubs, accusing them of subverting societies and advancing Zionist interests. This baseless allegation leveled against humanitarian organizations serves to underscore the radical nature of Hamas’s ideology.

The gravity of this menace has been acknowledged by authorities in the United States. In his address to the House Committee on Homeland Security, FBI Director Christopher Wray underscored the organization’s utmost concern regarding potential attacks on American soil that could be linked to Hamas and its endeavors to sever financial ties with the organization. The speaker made reference to the ongoing inquiries concerning individuals associated with Hamas and emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant for any intensification of their operations, particularly in light of the ongoing worldwide disputes.

An instance of notable American intervention against organizations affiliated with Hamas was the 2008 conviction of the directors of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. They were convicted of supplying Hamas with material support, which resulted in lengthy incarceration terms.

Non-partisan and humanitarian organizations, such as the Rotary and Lions Clubs, continue to operate in opposition to Hamas’s antagonistic position. With memberships in excess of 1.4 million each, both organizations are dedicated to addressing global issues via a variety of programs, including food distribution, disease eradication, community reconstruction, and pure water initiatives. Their dedication to serving others without regard to politics or religion is diametrically opposed to the misguided and radical ideology of Hamas, which considers even these charitable organizations to be adversaries.
