Ramaswamy Pledges Ballot Withdrawal Without Trump, Urges GOP Unity

In a defiant move that is shaking the foundations of the Republican primary, presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy has declared his intention to exit the Colorado race unless the recent ban on former President Trump’s candidacy is overturned. Reacting to Colorado’s Supreme Court ruling that disqualified Trump based on his alleged involvement in the Capitol riot, Ramaswamy termed the decision as an attack on democratic principles.

Ramaswamy took to social media to express his outrage, labeling the decision as an undemocratic tactic by a partisan judicial group to prevent Trump from competing in the elections and potentially holding office again. He stated that this ruling could spell disaster for the nation if left unchallenged.

“I will remove myself from the Colorado GOP primary if Trump is not reinstated on the ballot,” Ramaswamy pledged, calling on fellow Republican candidates Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley to follow suit or risk appearing to support what he views as an illegal maneuver.

The court’s 4-3 decision, temporarily on hold pending appeals, has sparked a firestorm of responses, with the Trump campaign announcing immediate legal action. Campaign Spokesman Steven Cheung criticized the court’s ruling as a politically motivated move, casting doubt on the impartiality of the all-Democrat-appointed justices and accusing them of conspiring to sway the election.

Cheung’s statement emphasized that the Trump campaign expects the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the “flawed” state ruling and restore Trump’s candidacy. This sentiment was echoed by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, who acknowledged the court’s decision but noted the possibility of an appeal.

At the heart of the controversy is the interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which was invoked by the Colorado court to disqualify Trump, citing his alleged role in the events of January 6, 2021. This landmark case has not only impacted the former president but also set a precedent that could influence the candidacy of political figures across the United States.
