Recently, Texas Senator Ted Cruz publicly supported Donald Trump in his candidacy for the presidency. Following Trump’s resounding triumph in the Iowa caucuses, this noteworthy support was made public during a television interview.

Cruz, a former rival of Trump in the 2016 presidential primary, expressed his unwavering support for the candidate, pointing to the resounding Iowa caucus results as proof of Trump’s commanding lead as the front-runner. Speaking enthusiastically about Trump’s candidacy, Cruz stated, “I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States.”

A major turning point in the presidential contest was Trump’s victory in the Iowa caucuses, where he received 51% of the vote. The win demonstrated Trump’s broad support within the party, as he defeated other Republican candidates like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Cruz praised the democratic process, the Iowa Caucuses, and the necessity of honoring and recognizing the electorate’s decisions. It’s an incredible process, and I really think that democracy should be allowed to unfold. Cruz acknowledged Trump’s overwhelming win and said, “Well, last night it played out.”

Leading Republican Party figure Cruz is endorsing the candidate during his own Senate reelection campaign. Noting the attention and resistance he still faces from Democrats, Cruz emphasized the importance of his endorsement. He highlighted the political stakes by saying, “If you’re a left-wing Democrat, there’s nobody in the country you want to beat more than me after Donald Trump.”

Trump’s standing in the presidential contest was further cemented when he got support for his candidacy from Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, another former primary rival.

With his endorsement, Cruz has made a significant contribution to the current political scene and underscored the growing support that Trump is receiving inside the Republican Party as the 2024 presidential race draws near.
