Biden Won’t Take Cognitive Test, White House Press Secretary Confirms

In the face of mounting scrutiny over President Joe Biden’s mental fitness, the White House has firmly stated that the President will not undergo a cognitive assessment. This declaration comes amidst concerns raised by a report from Special Counsel Robert Hur and a growing unease among the electorate regarding Biden’s cognitive capabilities.

During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed inquiries about the possibility of Biden undertaking a cognitive test. She highlighted Biden’s active engagement in daily presidential duties and his interactions with global leaders as evidence of his mental sharpness. Jean-Pierre, who has worked closely with Biden since 2009, described him as “sharp” and fully capable of executing the responsibilities of the presidency.

The issue of Biden’s cognitive health gained prominence following the release of the Hur report, which, while not recommending charges against Biden for mishandling classified documents, pointed to the President’s memory challenges. It labeled Biden as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” Notably, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the President’s physician, did not conduct cognitive tests during Biden’s last physical exam, deviating from a practice that previous administrations had followed.

Jean-Pierre dismissed the idea of Dr. O’Connor addressing the press on Biden’s health, further fueling discussions around transparency and the President’s capacity to serve. Amid these debates, a recent poll revealed that a significant majority of Americans believe Biden, who is currently 81, might be too old for another term.

The White House’s stance comes at a critical time when public and political discourse increasingly focuses on Biden’s mental acuity. Comparisons are being made to former President Donald Trump, who had publicly shared the results of his cognitive testing. As conversations continue, the administration’s refusal to have Biden undergo a cognitive test adds a new layer to ongoing discussions about age, health, and leadership in the nation’s highest office.
