Jillian Michaels, renowned fitness expert and former coach on “The Biggest Loser,” openly discussed her departure from California, attributing her decision to the governance of California Governor Gavin Newsom. In a conversation with Bill Maher on his Club Random Podcast, Michaels expressed her discontent with Newsom’s leadership, which prompted her move to Miami after spending her entire life in California.

During the interview, Maher mentioned his support for Newsom’s potential presidential candidacy, eliciting a strong reaction from Michaels. She questioned the viability of living under Newsom’s governance, citing it as the primary reason for her relocation to Florida, a state she finds comparatively less chaotic.

Michaels highlighted specific grievances, including the impact of crime and homelessness on her life in California. She shared a personal experience of a break-in at her California residence, criticizing Newsom’s decision to release the perpetrator during the COVID-19 pandemic. This incident, according to Michaels, was the individual’s third offense, raising questions about the policies surrounding criminal justice and public safety under Newsom’s administration.

The fitness guru also criticized certain legislative decisions she believes exemplify the state’s misplaced priorities, such as a bill related to the use of puberty blockers for minors. Michaels’s dissatisfaction with California’s regulatory and criminal justice policies led her to praise Florida for its approach to governance, contrasting it with what she perceives as the problematic direction of her former home state.

Michaels’s departure from California and her subsequent critique of Newsom’s leadership underscores the broader debate over state governance, public safety, and regulatory policies. Her move reflects a growing trend among Californians seeking alternatives to what they view as the state’s challenging living conditions and political climate.
