In a recent development at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), a student has been apprehended in connection to a tragic shooting that occurred within a campus dormitory, resulting in two fatalities. The Colorado Springs Police Department disclosed that early on the morning of February 19, 2024, Nicholas Jordan, a Detroit, Michigan native and UCCS student, was taken into custody without any complications.
The arrest followed an intensive investigation into the events of February 16, 2024, when police were alerted to gunfire at Crestone House, one of the university’s dormitories. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals, Samuel Knopp, 24, from Parker, Colorado, and Celie Rain Montgomery, 26, from Pueblo, Colorado, deceased with gunshot wounds to the head.
Authorities have indicated that this tragic incident appears to be an isolated case, stemming from a dispute among individuals who knew each other, rather than a random act of violence against the university or its student body.
