Trump Makes New Promise on Immigration After Landing in Eagle Pass Border

Former President Donald Trump, during a visit to Eagle Pass, Texas, emphatically stated the United States is engaged in a “war” at the border, attributing the situation to what he termed “Joe Biden’s invasion.” Trump’s remarks came as he observed the border conditions alongside Texas Governor Greg Abbott, meeting with border guards confronting the surge in migrant crossings. The former president accused the Biden administration of having the “blood of countless innocent victims” on its hands, suggesting that the influx included “fighting men” that resembled “warriors” and highlighted the diversity of languages entering the U.S., some of which, he claimed, are unfamiliar to Americans.

This visit coincided with President Biden’s border tour in Brownsville, Texas, situated 324 miles from Eagle Pass. Trump criticized Biden for selecting Brownsville, suggesting that Eagle Pass, as the “epicenter” of the border crisis, would have been a more fitting location for the current president to grasp the full extent of the challenges.

During his speech, Trump also mentioned he had spoken with the parents of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old student whose murder by an illegal immigrant has intensified the debate over border security and immigration policy. Trump’s comments underscored his commitment to stringent border security measures and his criticism of the Biden administration’s approach to immigration.

Trump’s visit to the border aimed to highlight the ongoing issues and rally support for his immigration policies, which include completing the border wall and enforcing stricter immigration controls. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, immigration remains a pivotal issue, with Trump positioning himself as the candidate capable of securing the border and addressing the challenges associated with unauthorized crossings.
