The National Border Patrol Council, representing Border Patrol agents, humorously critiqued President Joe Biden’s recent visit to Brownsville, Texas, with a satirical itinerary shared on social media. The post, which featured an image of President Biden asleep in a beach chair, playfully suggested the President’s schedule included napping on Air Force One, delivering a speech blaming former President Donald Trump for current border issues, and inquiring about the “people in green uniforms” before taking another nap.
During his visit to the southern border, President Biden addressed the ongoing migrant crisis, directly appealing to Trump, who was at the border in Eagle Pass, Texas, approximately 325 miles away, on the same day. Biden criticized the politicization of the border situation and called for bipartisan support for his border security bill, emphasizing that it had broad support across party lines until political gamesmanship intervened.
Biden’s trip to the border comes at a critical time as his administration faces intense scrutiny over its handling of border security, with record numbers of migrants crossing into the U.S. illegally. In December, Customs and Border Protection reported over 300,000 encounters, setting a new record.
Meanwhile, Trump used his visit to Eagle Pass to condemn the Biden administration’s border policies, describing the situation as a “Joe Biden invasion” and attributing recent crimes, including the murder of a young nursing student, to illegal migrants. Trump’s remarks underscored the deep divisions and heated rhetoric surrounding the issue of border security and immigration reform.
The Border Patrol union has been openly critical of President Biden’s approach to border issues, with union president Brandon Judd describing the visit as “too little, too late.” This latest episode highlights the ongoing tension between the Biden administration and border enforcement officials, as well as the broader political battle over how to address the challenges at the U.S.-Mexico border.
