Tiffany Henyard, the Mayor of Dolton, Illinois, is facing accusations of misusing taxpayer funds for personal benefits, including hiring her professional wardrobe stylist, Brandon K. Momon of “Style Me Brandon,” onto the government payroll. Henyard, who also serves as the county supervisor for Thorton Township, has been criticized for her extravagant spending habits and alleged abuse of power. With a salary exceeding that of the state’s governor, Henyard’s financial decisions have come under scrutiny, especially given the average income levels in Thorton Township and Dolton.

Momon, who began showcasing his work for Henyard around the time she assumed office, was compensated $7,650 over six transactions between April and June 2023 for his services. These services, which include makeovers, wardrobe styling, image consulting, and personal shopping, were categorized under the vague title of “ADMIN. ASSISTANT” in government payroll records.

The controversy extends beyond Henyard’s personal styling expenses. Former Thorton Township employee Stephanie Wiedeman, who was dismissed shortly after Henyard’s election, has labeled the mayor a “narcissist” and criticized her for creating a toxic work environment and mismanaging township resources. Wiedeman’s lawsuit against Henyard alleges wrongful termination and misuse of police resources for personal vendettas.

Henyard’s conduct is reportedly under investigation by the FBI, with allegations that she has used police officers to harass and intimidate those who oppose her. This includes raids on local businesses whose owners have refused to contribute to events sponsored by Henyard.

The situation in Dolton highlights concerns about the misuse of public funds and the potential for abuse of power in local government. As investigations continue, the community awaits clarity on the allegations against Mayor Henyard and the implications for governance in Dolton.
