Michael Avenatti Reveals Talks with Trump’s Lawyer

Michael Avenatti, the former attorney for Stormy Daniels, has revealed that he has been in contact with former President Donald Trump’s legal team and is open to testifying in Trump’s ongoing criminal trial. Speaking from Terminal Island, a minimum-security federal prison in Los Angeles where he is serving a 19-year sentence for multiple federal crimes, Avenatti shared that he has been communicating with Trump’s defense for about a year.

Avenatti, who once represented Daniels during allegations of an affair with Trump and became one of Trump’s most vocal critics, stated, “The defense has contacted me… I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of a year.” He refrained from divulging the specifics of these discussions.

The former litigator’s shift in stance is notable, considering his previous aggressive opposition to Trump, which included advocating for Trump’s indictment. However, Avenatti now describes the trial against Trump as politically motivated, aimed at preventing his reelection. He commented, “There’s no question [the trial] is politically motivated because they’re concerned that he may be reelected… If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time.”

Avenatti also criticized his former client, Stormy Daniels, suggesting she would not be a reliable witness against Trump due to her being motivated by personal gain. He argued, “Stormy Daniels is going to say whatever she believes is going to assist Stormy Daniels and putting more money in her pocket.”

This development adds another layer of complexity to Trump’s legal battles, intertwining Avenatti’s controversial legal history with the ongoing political drama surrounding the former president. Avenatti, despite his past as one of Trump’s fiercest adversaries, now sees parallels in their legal challenges, highlighting what he perceives as the politicization of the justice system.
