Former President Donald Trump has expressed regret over not challenging the ABC News moderators more directly during a recent presidential debate. In a post-debate interview, Trump indicated that he wished he had taken a more aggressive stance toward the moderators, whom he believed were unfair in their questioning.

Trump’s comments come after the debate drew criticism from some of his supporters, who felt that the moderators exhibited bias in their handling of certain topics. While Trump engaged with his political opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, throughout the debate, he now admits that he held back when it came to addressing the moderators’ perceived slant.

“I should have gone after them,” Trump said, acknowledging that he missed opportunities to push back against what he described as loaded questions and an unfavorable tone. He expressed frustration that the moderators focused on topics he believed were intended to undermine his campaign, rather than allowing for a fair and balanced discussion of the issues.

Trump’s remarks have reignited discussions about media bias in political debates, with many of his supporters agreeing that the former president should have been more forceful in confronting the moderators. Critics, however, argue that the moderators were simply doing their job by holding the candidates accountable.

As the debate performance continues to be dissected, Trump’s reflections on the event reveal his belief that confronting the media more directly could have strengthened his position. Whether this will influence his approach in future debates remains to be seen.
