Former Representatives Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush, both prominent members of the progressive “Squad,” are reportedly collaborating with CodePink to host an event addressing their electoral defeats. Touted as a platform for reflection and advocacy, the gathering aims to spotlight progressive issues while analyzing the challenges that contributed to their losses.

The event, informally nicknamed a “pity party” by some critics, is expected to bring together supporters and activists who share the duo’s vision for addressing systemic inequalities, climate justice, and social reform. CodePink, an anti-war and social justice organization, will co-host the event, adding its voice to the call for sustained activism despite the setbacks.

Opponents have dismissed the event as an attempt to deflect from electoral shortcomings, citing criticism of the lawmakers’ policies and messaging. Supporters, however, view it as a rallying point for progressive movements to strategize and build momentum for future campaigns.

Bowman and Bush have emphasized that the event is not about dwelling on defeat but rather reenergizing their base and advocating for the policies they championed in office. The gathering highlights the broader struggles within the progressive wing of the Democratic Party as it seeks to reconcile internal challenges with its push for transformative change.
