Trump Blasts Judge’s “Crazy” Ruling Against DOGE Access

A recent federal court decision that temporarily restricts the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), lead by Elon Musk, from accessing the U.S. Treasury Department’s payment systems has been met with strong disagreement by President Donald Trump. In response to a lawsuit filed by 19 state attorneys general who expressed apprehensions regarding the potential for illicit access to sensitive financial data, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer issued the ruling.

The court’s order strictly prohibits political appointees and special government employees from accessing Treasury payment systems and requires the eradication of any data that was previously obtained without proper authorization. The administration argues that this restriction impedes essential governmental functions and has filed a petition to vacate or modify the restraining order. They contend that it is unconstitutional and impedes the executive branch’s ability to effectively oversee federal agencies.

Elon Musk and Vice President JD Vance have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the ruling, contending that it exceeds judicial authority and impedes efforts to improve government efficiency. The administration is pursuing an expedited resolution to reestablish access, underscoring the importance of high-level officials having access to relevant information to fulfill their responsibilities.

This legal dispute underscores the persistent tensions between the executive branch and judicial oversight in relation to the balance of power in the implementation of federal reforms and access to confidential governmental information.
