Political commentator Megyn Kelly has taken aim at actor Tom Hanks for his depiction of a Trump supporter during the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live, accusing him of reinforcing negative stereotypes about conservative voters.

Hanks, who reprised his role as a working-class, pro-Trump character during the event, delivered a satirical monologue that many viewed as a lighthearted jab at the MAGA movement. However, Kelly argued that the performance was condescending and part of a broader trend in Hollywood to mock conservative Americans rather than engage with their viewpoints.

During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, she criticized the entertainment industry’s tendency to paint Trump voters as uneducated or out of touch, suggesting that such portrayals contribute to political division. She emphasized that millions of Americans who support Trump come from diverse backgrounds and have legitimate concerns about economic policies, border security, and government overreach.

Kelly’s comments sparked debate online, with some agreeing that Hollywood often misrepresents conservative voters, while others defended Hanks, arguing that satire has long been a staple of SNL. The sketch has also reignited discussions about political bias in mainstream entertainment, with critics questioning whether liberal-leaning media outlets fairly represent all perspectives.

As the 2024 election season continues, media figures like Kelly remain vocal in challenging depictions they see as unfair, while comedians and actors push back, maintaining that satire is a crucial tool for social and political commentary.
