In a significant development within the high-profile legal proceedings against Sean “Diddy” Combs, defense attorney Anthony Ricco has filed a motion to withdraw from the case. Ricco, one of six lawyers representing Combs, submitted his request to the Manhattan federal court, citing undisclosed reasons that prevent him from continuing his role.

In his affidavit, Ricco stated, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.” He refrained from providing specific details, referencing attorney-client privilege, but assured that his departure would not delay the trial scheduled for May 5, as Combs remains represented by five other attorneys.

Combs, 54, faces serious charges, including allegations of operating a sex-trafficking ring and coercing individuals into drug-induced sexual activities. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 15 years to life in prison. Since his arrest in September, Combs has been held without bail and is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

This legal battle adds to Combs’ mounting challenges, as he is also contending with over 40 civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct and assault. Despite the gravity of these accusations, Combs has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The court has yet to rule on Ricco’s motion to withdraw. As the trial date approaches, the defense team’s composition and strategy remain under close scrutiny, given the high stakes and public interest surrounding the case.
